Print Specifications

To help you prepare artwork for your custom boxes we have created this guide to provide easy to understand print specifications.

Colours

Our printer utilizes environmentally friendly pigment and dye inks, made from high-quality imported water-based raw materials. These inks ensure vibrant printing results with enhanced color saturation. Additionally, our process produces no VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) emissions, eliminating environmental concerns and aligning with sustainability standards.

Our digital printer operates with six print heads, each containing Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black inks. Any RGB artwork will be automatically converted to CMYK, which may alter the appearance of colours on screen compared to the final printed product. Pantone colours will be matched as closely as possible to their CMYK equivalents.
Be aware that colours will appear differently when printed on white versus brown board. Pastel colours are not recommended for brown board as they may not produce the desired print quality. It is advisable to darken shades to improve the final print result. Cooler and vibrant colours will have greater contrast visibility than warmer colours on kraft brown materials.
The appearance of black in your print will vary depending on the percentage mix of each CMYK colour. Adjust your black settings accordingly to achieve the desired result.
Our digital inkjet printer cannot print white ink. White registers with our printer as zero values and so the printer does not use any ink in that space. Consider this limitation when designing.

Typography

To ensure the best possible print quality, please adhere to the following guidelines for text and fonts.

All text must be outlined before submitting your artwork. We do not install custom font files, so outlining text ensures that your design prints correctly.
For positive print (dark text on a light background), lines should be no less than 1pt (0.35mm) thick. For reversed-out print (light text on a dark background), lines should be no less than 2pt (0.71mm) thick.
Registered ® and Trademark ™ symbols must be at least 5mm in size to ensure legibility in the final print.
All English and foreign language fonts should have a minimum point size of 5mm. Larger text is recommended, as it generally results in better print quality.
Sans-serif fonts are preferred as they tend to produce cleaner, more readable prints.

Media Size & Print Area

The maximum sheet size we can process directly impacts the largest box size we can custom print. For smaller boxes that fall below the minimum print size, their layouts will need to be arranged "multi-up" on a single sheet to meet the required minimum sheet dimensions.

  • Print Size: 300mm up to 1800mm
  • Feed Size: 680mm up to 2500mm
  • Stock Sheet Size: 2400mm x 1600mm
To ensure optimal print quality and avoid critical design elements being cut off artwork should be positioned at least 10mm away from scores and sheet edges. Important graphics and text should be placed at least 20mm inside from these edges for added safety.
For die-cut styles, a minimum of 10mm bleed is required for any print extending over the sheet edge. This ensures a clean finish and prevents unwanted white edges on the final product.
Please allow for print registration movements of up to +/- 10mm during production. This tolerance is standard and should be considered when designing your artwork.

Art Format

Recommended file formats for submission are Adobe Illustrator (.AI) or editable PDF.

Artwork should be designed to the exact 1:1 scale of the provided dieline. This ensures that the printed design will fit the intended packaging dimensions precisely.

Minimum resolution of at least 300 DPI at 100% size. This maintains the image quality and colour accuracy in the final print.
Vector graphics are strongly recommended for all artwork. Vector paths can be scaled to any size without losing image quality, ensuring crisp and clear prints, even at large scales. If your design includes raster graphics (such as background textures), ensure that all linked images are embedded in the final file.
Ensure all artwork is prepared with the print side facing the dieline. Verify that the print side facing symbol, as pictured above, is visible on the provided dieline to avoid any printing errors.
